 In September of 1969, Rev. Robert Schuller visited his close friend, Rev.Billy Graham at his Crusade in Anaheim, CA. Rev. Graham said, 'Bob, my weekly radio program is entitled The Hour of Decision. I think you should go on television with your powerful message, 'call it The Hour of Power.'
In February 1970, Rev. Schuller telecast his first Hour of Power program in Los Angeles.
A year later he was on in New York City. By 1973, the program was seen on 12 stations across the United States. And now, today, the Hour of Power can be seen around the world on over 100 television broadcast and cable outlets.
The program is seen weekly across Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, Africa, Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Iceland, Sweden, Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Indonesia, the Philippines‹and the U.S. Armed Forces Radio and Television Network.
Each week, Rev. Schuller receives thousands of letters from persons whose lives have been changed and saved by this exciting weekly program.
In 2005, the Crystal Cathedral Ministries celebrated its 50th Anniversary, having conducted their first service in a drive-in movie theater in 1955. On Sunday, January 22, 2006, Rev. Schuller's son, Robert Anthony Schuller, was installed as the ministry's Senior Pastor‹only their second Senior Pastor in 50 years! Both men are still seen weekly on the televised Hour of Power. |
